NEWS FROM COOL IT

Nurburgring and Spa trip

We are planning this year’s trip to the Nurburgring now. For any friends and customers interested, here’s the account of last year’s expedition.

The Cool It 360 Challenge Stradale joined a band of enthusiastic sports car owners from Dorset and further afield on a memorable journey last summer. Our destinations were the racing circuits of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and the notorious Nurburgring in Germany.

The vehicles included everything from classic Porsche 993 and 968 to modern cars like an Audi R8 and several 996s including a GT3, a Ferrari 355 and of course our own 360, so the procession to the Channel Tunnel was quite something to see and hear.

We arrived first in Germany, where everyone got to grips with trying to remember, or learning for the first time in some cases, the tricky and hugely-long Nurburgring circuit. The more adventurous amongst us were going for Sabine Schmidt’s track record (no-one came close) but most of the time you were just trying to get round in one piece. The main problem came from the vast variation in activity from other track users – everything from motorbikes cruising round at 60 mph, learning the track and looking for pot-holes and camber changes, to other guys on bikes coming past you at 180. Obviously these riders had decided they had learnt the track….

We then moved on to at Spa where much track action was seen – the great thing for Noel was to compare the 360 with his previous GT3 and GT2 on the same circuit.

All in all a fantastic trip and a great opportunity to have a crack at these famous circuits. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we are going again this year, so if you fancy your chances on that track record, let us know.

Air conditioning alert

Last year’s poor summer meant that many owners didn’t make much use of their air con and climate systems in 2007, and therefore did not bother to get them serviced. The downside of this economy is that the system may well let you down this year, just when all the air con repair shops are full of work and can’t fit you in…..

So if you haven’t had your system checked, gas topped up and filters changed recently, it may well be sensible to book your car in before the hot weather arrives. At Cool It you can be sure we will not fleece you for unnecessary work – we will only do the things that are necessary to keep your system in good order. And we now offer menu pricing at very reasonable rates so you know what you are in for

Workshop investment

Over the winter we have completed our extension to the main workshop, giving us more space and a much improved environment for servicing and performance modification work. From our customers’ point of view, there is also a comfortable waiting area with accessories on show and decent seating, and access to the workshop under cover where necessary.

Coming soon

When we have good cars for sale, either directly or on behalf of customers, we of course will advertise them in the Sports Car Sales section on this website. However, sometimes we hear about a vehicle on its way but have to wait for it to be available, so some customers have asked us to give advance warning of cars “coming soon” so they can register an interest (and maybe start saving….).

Cars we expect in the next few months:

Porsche 968 coupe , 1993, Guards Red, 100% full history through supplying OPC and then ourselves, lovely car

Mercedes SLK 280 , 2007 07, only 5,000 miles, Deep Blue, local one owner car
